About Greta Valley Landcare
Greta Valley Landcare Inc' is an incorporated, not-for-profit community group working to improve the health of our land and our community.
The group is able to offer members a variety of assistance to protect remnant vegetation, undertake revegetation, control weeds and/or feral animals and also has a range of equipment available for hire to members at subsidised rates. Members are able to access information and advice on particular issues through our project officer (Sean Guinane). The group also periodically issues newsletters, holds general meetings with guest speakers on topical issues and conducts field days on various topics of interest. Every year a community end of year/Festive/Christmass gathering is sponsored by the group to provide the opportunity for community members to come together and enjoy some good food and conversation.
Greta Valley Landcare welcomes all residents, irrespective of whether they have a residential block, a lifestyle property or a farm and offers the opportunity to learn more about caring for our land and the assistance to actually do it.
Financial assistance currently available to members:
- Fencing to protect remnant vegetation or revegetation
- Revegetation - seedlings, tree guards and direct seeding
- Erosion control works
- Rabbit control
- Weed control -both private land and roadsides
- Conducting field days/ presentations
